Abaana
Bringing hope to the children of Africa.
At Abaana, we passionately believe that through providing access to education to some of the poorest children across Uganda, this offers them the best opportunity of escaping from poverty.Abaana currently works with 16 communities across Uganda, through the building of Primary Schools and securing sponsorship to enable children form the poorest families to attend school.
Abaana schools currently provide education for some 4,500 children.
We also work with other agencies to rescue children, some as young as 6 years old, who are living rough on the streets of Kampala, the capital of Uganda. We bring them into the safety of our New Life Children’s home. Out ultimate goal is to see the children safely and happily re-settled with eith er immediate or extended families.
Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council
A borough since 1973, Lisburn was granted city status in 2002 as part of Queen Elizabeth II's Golden jubilee celebrations. With a population of 45,000 it became Northern Ireland's third city after Belfast and Derry.
From swimming, skating and tenpin bowling to museums, art galleries and live performances, Lisburn and Castlereagh offers so many things to see and do.
The City has a long and proud tradition of sporting success and Lisburn was the European City of Sport in 2013.
The recently refurbished Lagan Valley LeisurePlex, complete with one of the biggest leisure pools in Ireland, competition and diving pools, the Vitality Gym and Health Suite and outdoor football factory attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. Dundonald International Ice Bowl is one of the region's top tourist attractions and is home to the only public Olympic size ice rink in Northern Ireland, Xtreme tenpin bowling centre and Indiana Land play world all under one roof.
